Weathered chimney stack with loose pointing above a rendered wall with failed patches
Chimney stack crumbling?Worn brickwork and loose pointing let rain in. A damaged stack is one of the most common causes of damp upstairs and in the roof. Get it checked early.

Roof feltDaylight showing through a hole in the roof lining. Rain can get in here and soak the timbers.
Damp chimney brickwork in a roof void during a damp survey
Chimney brickwork in the roofCrumbling brick and white salt marks. The moisture meter was at its highest reading. Rain is getting in around the chimney.
Moisture meter reading 999 on a wallpapered chimney breast wall
Damp behind the wallpaper? This meter reads at its maximum through the wallpaper. Damp can hide behind decoration, so we test the wall itself, not just what you can see.
Wallpapered chimney breast with a fireplace opening
Chimney breast looks fine?Wallpaper and paint can cover a wet chimney breast. A survey checks for damp coming down from the stack before it shows on the surface.
Gutter joint overflowing in the rain with plants growing from it and water running down the brickwork
Gutter and downpipe blocked with growth?Plants growing out of the gutter joint mean it is blocked and overflowing, so rainwater runs down the wall instead of away. Get it checked before it soaks the brickwork.
Downpipe discharging against a wall base with algae, moss and peeling render
Downpipe emptying onto the wall?Water running against the wall base leaves green algae and peeling render. A downpipe that does not drain away from the house is a common cause of damp. We find it and tell you what to fix.
Front wall base with moss and a blocked air brick, a common cause of damp
Wall baseMoss, weeds and a blocked air brick at the bottom of the wall. This stops the wall drying out.
Alcove wall with peeling paint and failed plaster above the skirting from damp
Peeling paint and crumbling plaster? If you have walls like this, get them checked. The damp can be coming from the roof, gutters or ground level, and the wrong repair wastes money. We find the cause.
Wall below a window beside a radiator with damp staining and failed plaster
Damp stains under your windows?Stains and flaking plaster near a window or radiator are an early warning. A survey tells you what is causing it and what to fix first, before it gets worse.
Black mould on the walls and ceiling of a damp room
Mould on your walls and ceiling?Black mould like this means a damp problem that will not go away by itself. Get it checked so the real cause is found and fixed, not just painted over.
Black mould on the walls of a bathroom, heaviest at the base of the wall behind the toilet and around the window
Black mould in your bathroom?Mould spreading up from the base of the wall and around the window is usually a sign of damp or condensation on cold walls. We check humidity, temperature and the wall itself to find what is driving it before you repaint.
Black mould along the ceiling edge and in the corner of a kitchen above a window
Mould along the ceiling edge?Black mould where the ceiling meets the wall can be condensation on a cold corner or a leak from above. A survey tells you which, so the right repair gets done.
